Our Story

Built on Reputation,

Tom Hargreaves started Ironside with a ute, a toolbox, and a reputation for showing up early and finishing right. What began as a one-man carpentry operation in 2007 has grown into one of Sydney’s most trusted construction firms — not through billboards and radio ads, but through referrals from clients who saw the work and told their neighbours.

Today, Ironside employs a team of 15 skilled tradespeople — carpenters, tilers, plumbers, electricians, and project managers — all united by a commitment to quality that’s become our trademark.

We’ve completed over 500 projects across Greater Sydney, from heritage terrace renovations in Balmain to commercial fitouts in Surry Hills. Every project, large or small, gets the same attention to detail.

We’re still family-owned, still hands-on, and still believe that a builder’s word should mean something.

18 Years of Building Sydney

2007

Founded

Tom Hargreaves starts Ironside Construction with a ute, a toolbox, and a reputation for showing up early and finishing right.

2010

First Major Extension

Completed a landmark double-storey extension in Mosman that won a local design award and put us on the map.

2013

Team Growth

Expanded to a crew of eight full-time tradespeople. Opened our Marrickville workshop for custom joinery and prefabrication.

2016

Commercial Division

Launched commercial fitout services. Completed our first CBD office project for a tech startup in Surry Hills.

2019

Master Builders Award

Won the MBA NSW Excellence in Housing Award for a heritage restoration project in Paddington.

2022

500th Project

Reached 500 completed projects across Greater Sydney. Team expanded to 15 skilled tradespeople and three project managers.

2025

Today

One of Sydney's most reviewed and trusted construction firms. Still family-owned, still hands-on, still building like our name depends on it.

Project Manager

Architectural background with 12 years in residential construction. Manages our largest projects from DA through to handover.
